Plan it before you pour
On a new lot, the septic system and the well have to be separated by required distances, and the drain field needs suitable soil. Those two facts decide a lot about where the house can sit. Planning septic early avoids costly surprises.
Our part in a new build
- Walk the lot with you or your builder
- Soil and site evaluation
- Design sized for the planned home
- Permit application to NMED
- Rough-in coordination with the plumber
- Tank and field installation at the right stage of construction
- Inspection, backfill and final grading

Protect the field area
During construction, keep trucks, materials and equipment off the planned drain field area. Compacted soil can ruin a field before it's even built.
Future plans
If you might add a casita or more bedrooms later, say so now. It's easier to size for it up front. See casitas and additions.
Septic questions
When in construction does septic go in?
Usually after the house is framed and plumbing is roughed in, but it's planned before the foundation.
Can you work with my builder?
Yes.
Can I build on a lot with poor soil?
Often, with a different system type. The evaluation tells you.
