The steps
- Site evaluation. Soil, depth, slope and setbacks are checked.
- Design. The system is sized and laid out for the home and lot.
- Application. Submitted to the New Mexico Environment Department with a site plan.
- Permit. Approval of the system type, size and location.
- Installation. Built to the approved design.
- Inspection. Checked before it's covered.
- Final. Backfilled, graded and ready to use.
What can slow it down
- Missing information about the lot or home
- Poor soils that require a redesign
- Setback conflicts with wells or property lines
- Busy permitting seasons
