Mountain lots are tricky
In Sandia Park, a drain field needs enough soil depth over rock, room on a sloped lot, and distance from the well, property lines, drainages and trees. Finding that spot early tells you where the house can go.
Our steps on a new build
- Walk the lot with you or your builder
- Test pits to find soil depth and type
- Choose a field area and reserve area
- Design sized for the planned home
- State permit
- Install at the right point in construction
- Inspection and final grade

Plastic tanks on tight sites
Where a concrete delivery truck can't reach, a plastic tank set by smaller equipment can be the answer, if it fits the design.
Shallow soil?
Where soil over rock is thin, an advanced treatment system with a smaller field may be required.
Septic questions
Should septic be planned before the house design is final?
Yes — it can change where the house goes.
Can you work around trees?
Yes, while keeping roots away from the field.
Will I need an advanced system?
It depends on soil depth and lot conditions. The evaluation tells you.
