Concrete or poly out here
Concrete tanks are heavy and need a boom truck with good road access. On remote parcels with rough roads, a polyethylene tank set by an excavator can be the practical choice — as long as it fits the design and is installed to the manufacturer's requirements.
Installation
- Excavate to the designed depth
- Prepare a level bedding
- Set the tank level at the right elevation
- Connect inlet and outlet
- Add risers and lids
- Inspection, backfill and compaction as specified

Replacing an old tank
If an old steel tank has rusted through or a concrete tank has cracked, replacement is usually straightforward — and a good time to check the field.
