The Tijeras challenge
Many Tijeras homes were built decades ago on small, sloped or rocky lots. Their original septic systems may be undersized, too close to wells or drainages by today's standards, or simply worn out.
What replacement can involve
- A new tank with risers and an effluent filter
- A new field in the best available soil
- Advanced treatment where soil or space is limited
- Careful excavation around rock and foundations

Planning on a tight lot
- Map the well, buildings, property lines and drainages
- Find usable soil with test pits
- Design the system to fit
- Permit, install and inspect
